CIRED 2020 Berlin Workshop

Shanghai SkylineThe CIRED Workshop in Berlin, "How to Implement Flexibility in the Distribution System?", has been moved to 2020 September 22-23. The workshop will focus on tools like risk-based network planning, dynamic rating of assets, network tariffs, demand (and generation) response, EV, flexibility trading platforms and integration of other energy networks are all key aspects of efficient utilization of the electrical grid, which in turn make it possible to meet the consumer's electricity requirements. CIRED 2020 Shanghai Workshop

Shanghai SkylineFor the first time in CIRED history, a CIRED event will be organised outside Europe. A workshop dedicated to "Smart Power Distribution for Sustainable and Fast Evolving Cities" will be held on 26-27 October 2020 in Shanghai, China. The call for papers is posted online.

Call for Papers for 2019 CIRED Event in Madrid

The 25th International Conference & Exhibition on Electricity Distribution (CIRED) will be in Madrid, Spain. The conference will be held from June 3-6, 2019.

The submission deadline for abstracts for a conference paper for the 2019 CIRED Event September 14, 2018. Note that there will be no extension for the abstract submission.

Topics for papers can be submitted into six different tracks:

1. Network components
2. Power quality & electromagnetic compatibility
3. Network operation, control and protection
4. Distributed energy resources & efficient utilisation of electricity
5. Planning of power distribution systems
6. DSO Business environment enabling digitalization & energy transition

If the conference abstract is accepted, then the paper authors would be notified by Nomber 13, 2018. The authors would need to submit the full conference paper by January 21, 2019.

2018 CIRED Workshop, Ljubljana, Slovenia

CIRED workshops on specific topics are organized every two years between CIRED main conferences. In 2018, the workshop will address "Microgrids and Local Energy Communities". 

Here are the key dates for this workshop:

• December 15, 2017: Abstract submission
• January 29, 2018: Notification of acceptance
• March 23, 2018: Full paper submission
• June 7-8, 2018: CIRED Workshop

Here are the key topics for the workshop:

• Regulatory aspects
• The roles and responsibilities of the different actors
• Handling of actor interfaces
• Business models for stimulating cost efficient implementation and utilization
• Business cases for microgrids and local energy communities (from the point of view of system operators, aggregators and customers)
• Impact on network architecture and system development of services offered by microgrids and local energy communities (e.g., increasing of hosting capacity, resiliency, flexibility, investment deferment)
• Models and tools for including microgrids and local energy communities in development studies, including multi-energy hubs
• Microgrids and local energy communities to provide security of supply beyond the parameters associated with the DSO
• The coordinated control of many distributed sources with different technical characteristics and possible conflicting requirements
• Ride-through capabilities, essential for the stable operation of microgrids, especially when in islanded mode of operation
• Efficient load-sharing capabilities among power electronics interfaced distributed generators
• Protection and safety issues
• The design and dimensioning of storage and controllers able to face the requirements posed by the islanded operation and during transitions from interconnected to islanded mode.
• Assessment of services offered by microgrids and local energy communities. (e.g., post fault services, resiliency increase, flexibility)
